About UsWalstead Stud is our Connemara Pony Stud in Sussex. We have been involved with ponies and horses for over 50 years. Following major success with various Show Ponies, Hacks and Riding Horses, as Mrs. Burt’s children grew up she decided, with Pat, to venture into a Mountain and Moorland breed. "We chose the Connemara Pony as we felt they were not only beautiful but had such versatility. Everyone can enjoy them whatever you prefer to do from showing to jumping, dressage, driving, cross country or to just enjoy watching them in the field." Tiercel Top Cat is our well known stallion by Atlantic Swirl out of Tiercel Greyling. He has sired the winners of the Penny Verner and Rudgeway Trophy which we are immensely proud of. We would like to thank the late Mrs. C Williams and the late Mrs. Judy Letts (Bearwood) and Miss G Mason for all their help and advice in the start of our stud and our many more friends that have helped the stud over these many years. The stud has a great team led by Miss Pat Taylor having worked for the Stud for over 35 years. Tiercel Top Cat’s stock not only win in hand, they then go on and win under saddle, qualifying for HOYS, Olympia, winning in dressage and jumping, so keeping the great reputation of the versatile Connemara where it should be – at the top.
